Tai chi, an ancient Chinese martial art created for self-defence centuries ago, has evolved now as a gentle physical exercise for the health and well being of humans.

As said above, it is a gentle physical exercise involving slow and focused stretching coordinated with breathing. Every posture flows into the next posture without giving a pause, ensuring the body in a continuous motion. Thus, It is also called “Meditation in Motion”.

Types of Tai Chi
There are various styles of Tai Chi, but there are five styles which have become a basis for modern styles. They are Chen, Sun, Wu, Wu (Hao) and Yang.

History
Zhang Sanfeng is believed to be the person who formulated Tai Chi though some modern researchers have doubts regarding its validity. However, it dates back to around 5-7 centuries ago.
