Violent protests across the United States (US) were sparked due to the death of 46-year George Floyd, an African-American, who was a victim of police brutality. The incident took place in Minneapolis in the state of Minnesota, the US on May 25, 2020.

With COVID-19 making the economically weaker sections more vulnerable than ever and bringing the US to its knees, this brutal death of an African-American at the hands of a white police officer seems to have made people realise that though America has made great strides, there are some areas which still remind them of the earlier dark ages where racism and discrimination were at its peak.
