Story: The Turning Point: The Indian Rebellion of 1857

It was 1857, and the Indian subcontinent was simmering with unrest. The British East India Company, which had controlled India for nearly a century, was seen as a foreign oppressor by many Indians. The Indian soldiers in the British army, known as sepoys, were particularly unhappy. They were poorly paid and resented the British attempts to impose their religion and culture on India.
