Story: The Magical Potato

John was a farmer who lived in a small village. He had a small piece of land where he grew potatoes to feed his family and earn some money.

“I can’t wait for the rain to come,” said John to his wife. “We need to water the potatoes so they can grow.”

But the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. The skies were clear and the sun was hot, but there was no sign of rain.

“This is not good,” said John, looking at his dry fields. “The potatoes need water togrow.”

John’s wife tried to reassure him. “Don’t worry, John,” she said. “The rains will come. They always do.”

But John couldn’t shake the worry from his mind. He wanted to provide for his family, and the potatoes were their only hope.

Finally, the skies turned dark and the rain began to fall. John and his wife danced in the rain, laughing and smiling with joy.

“The potatoes will grow now,” said John, grinning from ear to ear.

The potatoes grew big and strong.

The rain nourished the soil and the potatoes began to sprout. John took care of them every day, watering them and ploughing the fields.

As the seasons passed, the potatoes grew bigger and bigger. John’s family feasted on them, and he was able to sell some at the market, too.

“Thank you, rain,” said John, looking up at the sky. “You have brought us so much joy.”

And from that day on, John knew that as long as he had his land and his potatoes, his family would always be taken care of.

Poem: As the Seed Grows

From a tiny seed, a tree does grow
Up and up, it starts to show
First a sprout, then a sapling small
Taller still, it starts to stand tall

Leaves unfurl, they stretch and reach
Birds and bees, they find a perch
As the seasons pass, the tree grows stronger

Branches long, they grow no longer

The trunk gets thick, the roots go deep
The tree stands tall, it does not sleep
It weathers storms, it endures the heat

It grows and grows, it’s hard to beat

Majestic now, it stands so proud
The forest’s pride, it’s clear to see
From a seed, to a mighty tree

It’s a journey, from A to B.
