Story: My Colourful Meal

Today we went to the market, and a carrot said, “I am red in colour, and I am good for the blood.” My mother picked the carrot up and added her to the basket.

We took one step, and a potato said, “I am brown outside and white inside, and I taste perfect.” My mother nodded and added the potato to the basket as well.

We took another step, and a lemon said, “I am yellow in colour, and I am tangy in taste.” My mother nodded and added the lemon too.

We took another step, and capsicum told us, “I am green in colour and a bit spicy in taste.” My mother picked the capsicum and took it as well.

We took one more step, and Brinjal said, “I am purple in colour, and I am easy to cook.” My mother picked the Brinjal and added it to the basket too.

We took another step, and a Pea said, “I am green in colour, and I taste sweet as well.” My mother added it as well.

We took another step, and an onion said, “I am pink in colour, and I add flavour to everything.” My mother again nodded and added it as well.

We came to the counter, and I saw different coloured foods: red carrot, brown potato, yellow lemon, purple brinjal, green peas, and pink onion.

I asked my mother, “Mother, why did we buy so many vegetables?”. My mother said, “We will make pasta and lemonade.”

I am so happy. Pasta is so tasty and colourful. I love my mother, and I love pasta too.

I have a bird
And she loves to fly
I give her food and water
She loves to come by.

She is green in colour.
And her beak is red
She is a lovely parrot
With a small round head

I asked her for her name.
But she said no word.
My mom laughed and said
She is just a little bird.

I kept telling her my name
And I told her to get one the next day
But every day, she came back
With nothing new to say

My name is Meena
She said, and away she flew
I am so happy right now
My name is Meena too.
